Workshops & Nukkad-Natak to Create Awareness about Madhya Pradesh Government Schemes for the Upliftment of Villagers, on 16 February 2023:

The Electronics Department of Jabalpur Engineering College organized workshops under the flagship programme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 16 February 2023 to provide information about various schemes undertaken by the Government of Madhya Pradesh for the development of villages. The convener of the workshop Dr Bhavana Jharia, Prof and Head, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, accompanied by Dr A.K Buchke along with twenty staff members and sixty students, visited Sonpur and Sunderpur villages near Jabalpur. In both these villages posters were exhibited, street plays were organized and

discussions were held with the villagers to make them aware of the various beneficial schemes undertaken by the state government. The workshop commenced with Nukkad-Natak entitled “नारी सशक्तिकरण और सरकारी योजनाओं के प्रति जागरूकता” / “Women Empowerment and Awareness of Government Schemes”. The students gathered a big crowd by rhythmically clapping their hands accompanied by the musical rendition of “आओ आओ नुक्कड़ देखो , आओ आओ I आओ रे भइया आओ रे साथी गांव मे आज नुक्कड़ आया मिलकर लाभ उठाएंगे आओ आओ I” I The students using colloquial language made the villagers aware of the different govt. schemes like: Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojna, Laldi Bahan Yojna, Medhavi Chatra Yojna, Balika Chatravitri Yojna Ayushman Bharat Yojna, Indra Gandhi Vridha Pension Yojna, Mukhya Mantri Anupurna Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna etc.

At the end of the Nukkad Natak, the street play actors' advised the villagers to keep their Aadhaar card, BPL card, and Samagra Id. ready to take advantage of the facilities provided to them. The play ended with the message that “ right from birth to death, the govt has taken the responsibility of assisting its people through its various schemes” The posters and banners also elicited the attention of the villagers to the various measures

taken by the govt. for their welfare and upliftment. An interactive session was also conducted by Dr Bhavana Jharia and Dr A.K Buchke so that the villagers could effectively use the knowledge shared with them through Nukkad Natak. This thoughtful initiative, taken up by the department, is commendable and a lasting example of conveying information effectively in rural areas.
