‘Prayogshala’- A Physics Workshop: on 25 April 2023:

A one-day Physics Workshop, 'Prayogshala’ was organised at Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC) on 25 April 2023, by the Department of Applied Physics, under the joint auspices of the Indian Association of Physics, (IAPT) and Vigyan Bharti. About two hundred and fifty students from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gokalpur and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Gokalpur participated in this programme. The workshop began by seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The programme was presided over by Dr P.K Jhinge, Principal JEC. Dr P.K Dubey was the function's chief guest,and Shri Pramod Shrivastava, School Education Officer, was the Special Guest. Dr Jhinge respectfully read the

Congratulatory Note sent by Dr H.C Verma, former Prof of IIT Kanpur a renowned physicist and a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award. The principal acknowledged the valuable guidance given by Dr Verma for conducting this 'Prayogshala’. Dr S.K Tiwary, retired HOD Department of Applied Physics, graced the workshop with his presence. In his brief address, he appreciated the sustained progress made by the department and enlightened the students with his words of wisdom.

In the workshop, the innovative experiments on Optics, Mechanics, Electrostatic and Modern physics fascinated the students. In one experiment, the way, the light travelled from optically denser to a rarer mediumstunned the students. The Static Electricity Experiment of a dancing straw fascinated the audience. The Convener of the Program, Dr Kamal Kumar Kushwaha, HOD, Department of Applied Physics, JEC, demonstrated some innovative experiments before the students to make them understand the fundamentals of the subject. At the end of the workshop, a question-answer session was organised to resolve the queries of the students. The workshop also showed a film produced by NITTTR on the occasion of the International Year of Millets.Dr S.K Mahobia, the program coordinator, said that the audience appreciated the innovative experiments which were shown in the workshop. All the experiments were prepared at a very low cost.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr Mahobia.
